Even going back to all faith traditions, appreciating the sacrifice of the animal was a very important aspect we took seriously. I think it's important to remember that as stewards of this planet, it is our responsibility to protect all if we have to eat them. We have reduced our livestock to breathing items that magically appear in neat plastic wrap, priced and ready to go. For generations we(humans) have deluded ourselves into thinking that non-humans don't have the ability to feel, reason and communicate. ![]() ![]() Not a big pork eater(Jewish guilt perhaps), but it got me thinking. But is it really? I recently saw an Oprah episode that focused on humane pig farming and the dreaded confinement farming. I tell myself that if I buy organic, free-range and kosher, or halal meat, that it's OK. I struggle with the notion that I am not being as kind to the creatures(animals) I so proudly protect, rescue and rehabilitate. ![]() Vegan isn't for everybody.but it might be for you.
